Had a nice few days before Chinese Lunar New Year. The weather was mild and we rented out a nice Ford Focus hatchback. Handled great and even made it down to Taitung for a day.

It was a great weekend. It was a nice simple resort. Traveled all around Yilan County and saw the start of the World Cup in Brazil.

Then, on the last day, while working on the weekend report before we headed home, I was sitting on the bed with my laptop. And I sneezed...hard. I threw my back out as I never have done before. I could not even move for a about an hour, with my back feeling like a knife was being jammed into my hip to the left of my spine. Nine months later, I am still feeling the effects.

Graduation day for Daniel - at Dahu Elementary School in Dahu, Neihu District, Taipei. Three main performances done by the Big Class: Carmen, Champs Elysees for his French class, and the Lion King, followed by the graduation ceremony.

A Klimt exhibition (all reproductions) was put on in an old part of Taipei, Bopiliao Street, that has recently been restored. The exhibition was put on in cooperation with Austrian representative offices in Taipei.

Stopped for a coffee on the way to Yehliu, at our favorite overlook onto the Pacific Ocean. Jackie had just gotten back from China for business, so it was a great day to get out for a drive. Then, onto Yehliu where there were hundreds of tourists, mostly from China and Korea.

Our first of two stops was in Ching Jing, Nantou in central Taiwan. Ching Jing is famous for its sheep farm and sheep shearing show. It is also famous for its European-style villas with European-looking scenery.

With an invitation to join in horseback riding in Hsichi's riding track, Daniel got to sit on a horse for the first time, Jackie got to continue to practice riding as she likes to do, and the horse learned his lesson of what happens when you don't run the other direction when an 84-kg foreigner named "Chris" decides he wants to ride you.
