Living in Ilha Formosa
"We choose to go to the moon. We choose to go to the moon and do these other things in this decade not because they are easy, but because they are hard."
-John F. Kennedy, during 1963 speech in Houston, TX

Summer is coming...
Sprng has been a mixed bag. Sometimes colder, sometimes warmer. Next, the plum rains.

As for trips, went for an overnighter to a Jinshan hotspring. Nearby, we went to Yehliu to save some of Taiwan's most famous interesting rock formations. Towards the Ilan area, we got to Pinghsi, home to famous lanterns floated to the sky for good luck as well as home to a not-so-small waterfall. Also, just completed Mother's Day, circa 2010. The Big Day
Originally Daniel was due on June 29th, but as he bulked up quickly, the doctors said he was ready for the world even by his 38th week (actually, he was born two days before his 38th week started). With that, June now marks several important events in the Cottorone-Hsieh clan. Grandmother Olga is born one day after Daniel's, on June 14th. His parents' anniversary is June 23. And his dad has a June 3rd birthday. June will be a big month for us.

June 16th was another possible day, after Jackie's parents had checked the Lunar Calendar for hao rizi (auspicious day), but in the end, and after a second trip to a fortune teller in the old Tihua Street area of Taipei, June 13th became the one. You can also visit some other websites that list down other famous people born on the 13th of June.

Another Degree Added
Dateline: June 20, 2009. Taipei, Taiwan: The courses are done (two years ago). The thesis is done. The graduation ceremony (the second I attended while at the IMBA) is done. Now, I have my MBA. Now I am ready to meet the global financial crisis.

Travel Photos and Updates
2006 has been a bit more active in getting new stamps in our passports. I made my first trip to the European continent, and Jackie made her visit to the Japan. And a short trip to Hong Kong and Shenzhen.

Welcome to the Living in Ilha Formosa Site!

This site highlights events, travels, interests and more. Life in Taiwan, famous quotes, pics from our lives here and while on the road. While I may not have an interesting life, at least I have an interesting look on life. And maybe, an interesting web site.
